That is how they communicate. They make clicking sounds during feedign frenzy and skirmishes. If you notice the bifid spines found under each eye, you will see what I mean.;) Several of my loaches here do that when they peck each other. Tiger loaches have the loudest clicking sounds so far in my experience.

:D

Wait till you hear 11 inch clowns click. :P

nop..once i get close to them...they stop fighting(clicking)..
Strange. My clowns also clash against each other (occasionally with the third one joining in) and they never even stop even if I am already in front of them. Longest recorded clash was 30 minutes I think. I try to record it anyway.lol Sounds are often too loud but this does not match the tiger loaches squabbling each other in another tank.

When i had my tank in my bedroom they seemed like they had to wake me up each morning or it just wasnt fun for them.

1 had one that used to knock the gravel against the glass till i fed them! clever little things.

my clowns do it only when they are feeding. they have plenty of snails, so I don't feed them every day, only every other:screwy:, and this is the only time I notice it.

Might sound stupid but...I think they click when they're happy.
Or having a Feedeing Frenzy. Or want food.

My 12 yr old son heard it and didn't know what it was, he came and got me and kept saying, "Mom, the Loach tank is cracking!" Scared the bejesus out of me until I heard the noise he was talking about and knew it was the Loaches, I'd just turned the lights out and fed them lol My son just rolled his eyes and eyes and said, "Well, do they have to be so loud??"

ohh its the loaches. i thought my tank was busting:screwy:
