What cichlid got you obsessed with cichlids

Oscar. she was my gate way drug to full blown MTS.
 
I had a really cool Livingstonii in with a pair of Convicts that looked and acted like trailer trash and a pop-eyed Oscar that my bf cloved because he read an article about it and wanted to "put it out of it's misery" because he thinks anything retarded should be euthanized. He's such a jerk. The other day there was a bum picking bottles in the alley and my bf was taking out the garbage and seen him and he asked him if he was hungry. The bum said yes, so my bf told him to wait in the alley. He made him an Artisan grade double-decker ham, turkey and cheese sandwich with mayo and garden tomatoes. then he dumped like half a bottle of cayenne pepper on it. We could hear the poor bum yelling and crying in the alley for 15 minutes. I'm so ashamed that I bred with him...sigh. At least he takes the garbage out occasionally in between drinking beer, "j_ _ k _ _ g off and making kraft dinner in on the bbq because he blew up the stove somehow??
 
Jewels. Or I thought it was a jewel, though in hind site it might have been a Dempsey. Didn't get into cichlids right then because I only had a 10 gallon tank but I still came back many years later for em.

do you know what, I knew nothing Bout fish only fishing (carp, pike, tench, roach, barbel)
and knew loads, but met my now boyfriend and he had fish, was into sa's etc , bred his own
I was like "ooh angel fish"
but they grow big need room so he said start on a community tank, got some ct fish,
then 'adopted' his juvi gts to temporarily put in my ct
being their foster mum just made me love them, then looking how they turn so beautiful fascinated me,
it fascinated me how colourless they start and turn into amazing fish
so got a gt obsession, then started on ebas and I was mad on a pink convict
but gt was my first real like of a cichlid, and so have to say them:)
 
Firemouths!

First it was Mbuna but didn't like the chasing so switched to peacocks. Fell in love with firemouths I put a few in my peacock tank now now no more africans CA/SA all the way.
