The first thing that came to mind was JohnPTC's 10K+ behemoth of a tank. That is monster to the max.

I used to think that my 8' long 200 was pretty monster, but now, if it ain't at least 30" wide and 30" tall, then it just ain't monster.

Yeah i think of arapaimag and JohnPTC. But not everyone can go to that extent im sure if some of us had the means they would. But to me for a tank to be monster id have to anything above a standard size like a 240 that you have to special order in most cases

Well I don't care that anyone says my 125G is a monster to me. Especially when I clean it and can't reach the bottom, 40" tall.

You guys are all size queens. Jk. I think 125 and up but I say this because I have a 125 and although I want a bigger tank its not anywhere in my foreseeable future.:D

anything that could hold a fullgrown monster.. the fish defines the tank..

I have 286 efficient gallons and people look at me with in a strange when I say I will need to upgrade for my arowana.. 500 gallons is my goal.. here on mfk that would be a sump for some people.. the thought of johnptc or arapaimag using my monsters as feeders is disturbing.. very disturbing.. haha..

I only said 55g because you can rasie and house a 15'' to 18'' monster in them if thats all the money you can afford. I think we need to be reasonable here at least. I got a 150g an looked at it like it was a big 55g and the next week I was looking for my 240g. But truley as someone said before the Monster is the fish not the tank. But 240 sounds about right that's the only place a monster will fell comfortable when ther is more then one. A single monster will be all right in a 125g also. Matter of opinion I guess.

8x2x2 is a minimum for my ]V[onster tank sizes.

You all love john's tank, but what about arapaimag's 50,000 gallon monster?!?

To me, a tank is only as monster as the fish living in it

I had to buy a 180 just so I could feel like I would fit in here. Then I go and read the 5k to 10k conversion thread... Back to craigslist to find something bigger....

My tanks are wimpy compared to most people on this site's. But its the fish that really matter. I might join another forum though.

Those guys don't have tanks...they have DISPLAYS.

A tank can be moved to your new place if you get one.

IMHO.... a monster tank can be whatever size you want, as long as you care for it properly and keep some fish that eat other fish.

ask me in a few months...as soon as i get a bigger one (when i find one), it will feel smaller quickly again, and my views will change lol
I view a monster tank as anything that is over 7 feet long and 30 inches back, bc thats when you options to fit some of the much larger fish comfortably seem to unlock.
