I think he is refering to "de-gasing" ones water before it enters your tank.

Possibly pH could have been even higher when you did that water change then, especially if the water company had added something?

So what do I do add an ammonia lock? Do smaller more frequent waterchanges? How about the Ph? I need to change the water in my other tanks but I dont want to loose anymore fish.

Less water,more frequent WC's.And also,if your town/city worked on pipes around you then sometimes fish-kills result.I think this happened to oddball once.

Seachem Prime/Safe is a good water conditioner which claims to detoxify ammonia and nitrIte as well as removing chlorine/chloramine - may be useful in your situation.

IMO small frequent wc's is best way to deal with significantly higher pH tap water than is in your tank. Worth testing it every couple of days (and immediately before a wc) to see if it's getting back to normal as it flushes through the system.

Maybe it's me but I dont think my water is as clear with less waterchanges. Plus you can see the poop that just sits on the top of the sand. I vac that stuff out once a week but I could always decrease the amount of water I take out.

water clarity doesn't have tons to do with wether or not its of good quality. lakes/ponds/rivers/streams are merky and muddy but are of best conditions for the specie.

i prefer to let water sit longer, to me its less change which results to less stress. i know of people on here who do 50%+ water changes every 4 days on there huge tanks and i don't see how fish are not stressed from this. i have great filtration systems, and perform water changes like once a month or every other month and i never lose fish to this reason. poo does build up, but if u dont like it jus syphon out poo once a week, then do ur main w/c like once a month.

Is there a lack of o2 or did the heater spike up? IE lack of oxygen? Possibly something only those two ate?

Sorry to hear.. BTW I wouldn't get out completely, just take a step back. I was gonna get out a few weeks ago but glad I didn't. That may mean for a few days or a few weeks. Then decide then if you still really want out. I can bet you won't and that you'll restock with the same/similar fish or change your stocklist and restock instead of quitting.
