Pup fish need alkaline hard water that rapidly gets worse as you don't change the water or top off evaporation levels, you also increase the temp over a period of a week or so from low to mid 70s to low 90s. Feed lots of brine shrimp and mosquito larvae. when about 1/2 the water has evaporated you top off the tank with cool (70-72F) pH neutral or lower water, This will drop the temp of the tank to high 70s and the pH from around 8.4 to closer to 7.2. They fish should start spawning within 24 hours.

cant that go either way though....the fish not breeding make you frustrated and get farther away from the hobby? just a though, ive never tried to breed fish that are hard to breed

Last time I was bored I decided to go with Madagascan cichlids to get out of the CA/SA scene but I got drawn back too it and now thinking on 3 more tanks with a Dovii pair, Orinos and of course my soon to be arriving WC female jag for my WC male to breed them.

NEW TANK NEW FISH, DIFFERENT GIRL FREIND
:ROFL::ROFL:
when i get bored, i usually get more fish.
now im doing the opposite, and trying to get rid of some that really i am not attached to like others...with hopes to thin it out and make more of a display tank with a few "main attractions"

recently to help keep my interest, ive been doing more research on water parameters, disease etc., so that my fish can be kept in the best health possible by me, and when something goes wrong i'll understand why and hopefully how to correct it.
also, i plan on upgrading to more filtration soon, and read up more on canisters, over-flows, sumps, etc. as well as researching the best lights i can get to display my fish.

I got extremely bored so last Monday I did a big decor renovation and Im very pleased with the outcome as I actually took out some things, but arranged the remainign objects in a way that provided more shade, hiding place and more open swimming. The fish are all very pleased with it too.

When I get bored i get a new species of fish, or try something new like breeding. I am constantly tying to upgrade my fish and my skills.

Yes, we know some of you have never been bored in this hobby. :D

This question is for the veterans of the hobby! What did you do? Get into a new species of fish never owned before? Start researching filtration and water chemistry more? Better yet, buy a new tank? Change your tank decor or subtrate? etc.

Share what you did...

Can't say it has happened. Thanks to this site, there is always something that is NEXT.

I'm bored of it right now. I wish my bettas would just go on and breed for me instead of playing their betta games. My patience wears thin for their "I only want to spawn when the stars line up or something like that".
