What do I feed fry?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've always fed my convicts and livebearers finely crushed flakes from the second they can take it. After a fornight, I move onto Frozen Baby Brine Shrimp then onto larger flakes and brine shrimp.

Went to my LFS, they had no brine shrimp and no daphnia in stock, useless little buggers!

The flake I use at the moment is "TetraMin" "complete food for all tropical fish"

Will that be ok? I'm still gonna try an locate some shrimp and some daphnia, for the good of the other fish too. But for now, will this flake be eaten/eatable for the young fry?

Thanks.

I FORGOT ABOUT POWDERING FLAKE IN YOUR HAND, I AGREE WITH GUPPY, AND THIS IS COST EFFECTIVE AS LONG AS IT'S A GOOD QUALITY FLAKE

why must you type in capslock?

I don't mind even if he type's in rainbow colored size 92 font, his information and comment's are useful :)

Any cichlid would have to be a complete ditz to pass up any form of food in the fry stage. In my convict batches 2 through to 6 I used the same flakes you did with great success. The only fault was the fry being consumed by a rather large and hungry angelfish.

you could even stop cleaning the algae off the side of teh glass and the fry will eat that.
