Catch and release for me unless its injured during the fight or the owner tells me to keep what I catch or during that 1 time a year that I may take a few small cats home if i'm catching a ton of them.
But no matter what, all big fish I catch are released.
Depends on where I am fishing and what for.
I go on a fishing trip every now and then and we usually eat what we catch.
Most of the time though I release.
for people asking about what i do i believe in catch and release but if im trolling ill catch and keep it eat it and ill use the bones to cause i use every part of the fish for something useful =) =P lol keep the comments and poll posting coming
I usually catch and release. Although, this year I did stock a 55 gallon with 6 green sunfish and 2 black bullhead. Always wanted a native species tank and the sunfish are more interactive and aggressive than most cichlid species i've kept. One day I'd love to have a indoor pond with some muskie or pike (preferably caught by myself).
i spearfish.. cant exactly catch and release there, but on the good side, i have no unwanted bycatch unlike people shore fishing who may catch everything else but the fish they want.
edit - forgot to add that when im freshwater fishing for fun, or even surf fishing etc, a lot of it is catch and release, apart from a few tilapia i keep, those go in my friends pond for his 4 piranhas. bonefish are strictly catch and release fun. i love them on light tackle, usually i use the lightest line i can get to toss a sinker out with, sometimes the conditions call for 2-3 ounce sinkers so its 10-15 lb test, on a calm day i'll use 6 lb test though.
If everyone catches and keeps there would be no fish. Too many people already keep everything they catch, and the fishing has gone way downhill at many places because of it. I do keep some fish, but I'm 95% c&r.
