no offence taken, tried to edit, but 30 minutes had gone by, point i was trying to make is generalizations open a can of worms before my grammar took a dump. :)

Im closing the can. Taken back what i said. Didn't think it trough. I see your point, some people are sick and need the pills. Lets get on topic.

agreed karl:) and my 2 cents put down more than once, step away from the thread, that's right, just step away.

All I was ever trying to say was that this animal cruelty stuff has gone to far. For example milking a cow is cruel because we should not touch her udder without her consent. Canada and the United States are both free countries where we have freedom of speech. But some were saying my opinion was insane and should not be heard. All I ask is you take a look around and you will see that things are changing and not always for the better.
We have Canada geese and their wings are to pinioned it is a regulation so are we cruel. We should not take away animals or birds natural ways why then is it good to spay and neuter our dogs and cats.
I know why but at the same time it goes against what some here believe.

As for clipping the wings of birds like parrots, If it is done correctly there is no pain at all. Clipping should not be done so the bird cant fly at all and just drop to the ground. It should be just enough removed like the main flight feathers so the bird can still fly but it just can't gain altitude. I find feather plucking is usually a result of boredom, stress or incorrect diets for said species. As for fish, I have nothing wrong with people disposing of them (especially if they can't rehome them) as long as it does quickly and humanely. I would much rather prefer to see this practice encouraged instead of uneducated fools releasing them into natural waterways which will in turn cause much more harm to a far greater number of fish in the wild via the risk of pathogens and diseases being introduced which can potentially destroy wild stocks. For me, cruelty includes overstocked tanks, minimal water changes, bad fish combinations, deliberate fish fighting and inadequate tank sizes for the stock within, under filtration and deliberate stunting and breeding mutants like parrot fish.

Yeh, if you get a huge fast growing fish like Tiger Shovelnose Or Red Tail catfish, and you cant house it or rehome it, put it down instead of stunting it. I dont have anything against milking cows, castrating dogs (Even tho i have never had a dog castrated, i just didnt find it nessecery, but i guess if you have male and female dogs together, and you dont want pups its a good idea.), castrating cats. But i do feel that taking away a parrots main way of moving, so it can only walk, is animal cruelty. And yes, i eat meat, i drink milk, i fish, and alot of other things.

Animal cruelty is like art, I can't define it but I know it when I see it. Some things are obvious, like tank size and water quality, whereas others are more nuanced.

On the subject of "touching fish". Sometimes a fish has to be netted or handled for it's own good, even though they aren't going to like it. It's like taking a child to a pediatrician or a dentist. On the other hand, most fish don't like to be touched and handled and the stress is tough on them. My ray is a bit different, and I'm sure many people here have seen similar behavior. He'll rub against my hand sometimes when I feeding him and every once in a while just because he wants to.

me to but for some reason I find myself getting sucked in from time to time, ohh my head hurts, think i need another brain wash, any one have a buff puff i can use? sorry but some of this stuff gets so far out there, take care of your own as they are meant or as close as you can and there is no abuse. 2+2=4, not something you can fudge with.
gotta agree this is way past dead horse stage ,,,I mean everybody with a brain knows there is animal abuse of all different varieties as most of us know SOME animal activist groups are people preying on the kindness of others for they're own gain...the OP was smart to bail......

Danielcho I am not a tough guy that is for sure I like animals as much as anyone else.
I believe you may need to calm down but the words I am typing are true. Farmers in Canada and the United States are finding this out all to late. You missed the point about walking on the moon. What it said so you can understand is if you never experienced it you can not miss it. What I was referring to was most pet birds are captive bred now so they will not miss the wild. We have parrots that have room to fly but prefer to walk why I have no idea. Maybe it is because they were captive bred and never learned or needed to is that cruel.
You claim a freedom of choice but now want to say I am wrong because I believe a human is more important that an animal. Sounds like you are a little 2 faced. Am I a bad person I eat meat and also hunt. Here is a fact us terrible hunters do more every year to conserve animals than any other group. But if you recall in bambi we are the bad guys. To make it simple for you bambi is a childhood movie. When I hunt or eat meat an animal dies to feed me and sometimes in this case I pick which one. This does not make me a bad person as I would try and stop some one beating a dog.
I can only assume you were talking lab testing with your monkey example I will not back down on that.
I watched my mother wither away to nothing with cancer and suffer for months. So if testing drugs on mice or rats can prevent another person from that then I am all for it. As I said I have diabetes and would have died 40 years ago without animal testing. If you want to see it stopped tell me who has compassion. Unless you enjoy stories of human suffering. Most of us would not be here today without testing on animals so just think about that.

The words you are typing are true to you and only to you it seems. Stop with the harm an animal to safe a life. Technology and human knowledge is what saves lives not testing on animals. I could honestly care less about your back stories as your mother having cancer or you having diabetes at 10. We're arguing the right of nature and not how your life experiences show your character. Why bring personal matters into this?

A birds natural given right is to fly I assure you that the bird will miss the ability to fly even if has never flew a stride in its life. Humans have the ability to grab things correct? Cutt off a babies fingers and thumbs and I assure you it will try to grab things and dispair correct? Scare a bird that has clipped wings that had never flow and I assure you that it will try flying away.

ahhh to be young again. well that aint happening. so i guess its  time
