What do you do for a living?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Forensic lab tech. I stayed in school and my job bores one to insanity. ...or maybe i was insane before i started... Meh. Its a toss up. They say do what you love and it'll never feel like work. Is there a way I can get paid to hang out with my dog all day and mess with fish?

I'm licensed, and get paid, to irradiate people for a living.

Unlicensed, unpaid ninja-sniper during my leisure time.

Dad, husband, and home-maintenance-guy the rest of the other times.

Happy Friday MFK people! Any of the mods or heavy posters willing to chime in? Bunch of curiosity out here!

Similar background for me. Got my degree in environmental sciences just so i could swing a hammer lol.
Me too. Actually think this is pretty common. With Biology BA I was looking at game warden or selling med supplies. Much more money as a carpenter. Grades no good enough for pre med. I just did Biology because it interested me. Probably why I am a noob MFK.

Your story sounds...incredibly familiar. Its a shame jobs in our field dont offer competitive salaries. I had a couple job offers coming out of school offering 25-30k which is laughable here in northern virginia. Especially when you can make 3x that easily working construction or likewise.

Other than that i enjoy my job so i dont look back too much. Fingers crossed for a position in the environmental services department here though.

You wouldnt have happened to be involved with athletics at school? That would be eery indeed.

What projects did you undertake as a carpenter? Woodworking is such a fun hobby. I'm hoping to go Molecular biology or microbiology woth zoology

I played left tackle in high school. Back then they only had hard contact lenses and no sports glasses so I didnt wear my glasses (really hurt my play). Started strong. Injured my knee/ ACL first season (sophomore) then started strong but got demoted second season. Big tall DE kicked my ass in a game and that was it! Hate name dropping but I am sorta proud that I played opposite tackle AR(Chiefs) during this brief time. He got his licks in on me during practice but I got a few in too! He was a year back of me.
