I'm a machinist......mainly run a high speed dual head cnc router.......Also some programming
I was a machinist for years. No CNC though. I ran a Leibherr gear tooth cutter. ID ring gears for lattice boom cranes. Started my Journeyman training on a 36" spindle horizontal boring mill before the company folded. That was 20 years ago though. I miss it!

You guessed it. Ive worked for csx almost 7 years now. I cant really say you made a bad or good choice not taking the job. Lots of opportunities but it is a vicious company to work for sometimes.
I remember the bennies and retirement package was pretty good. Something about how the spouse collects a pension too maybe

Such variety here.

My main job title is “stay at home mom”, but I also do secretary type work for my Husband.

Most admirable job there is
As a new and very protective Dad, I did not want to send my first child to daycare as an infant. 5 days a week, I would work the overnight shift, get home by 8am, and took care of her until my wife got home around 5:30pm to relieve me. Didn't send her to daycare until nearly 3. Did this with all 3 kids. Usually, some family members would help out 1 or 2 days a week. Those were tough days, but I have very fond memories of our quality times together.

We did the same. Worked allot of OT and hardly saw them for a time especially my daughters younger yrs but it was very worth it.

It is very rewarding and I feel very blessed to be able to be home with them. It’s how I grew up. Mom was always home with us, so I’m happy I can do the same for them.

I had many fears about infant daycare. Or in my case nightcare since my husband and I worked nights together.
We only did one home visit and that was enough for my husband and I to say no to infantcare.

We wanted to do like you and your wife did. Working opposite shifts, but that didn’t work out. So staying home became the only option.
It did make things pretty hard for a few years, but my husband was very determined to make things work for me to be home. I am so grateful for all the sacrifice and long hours he put in.
