Hikari gold and biogold as staple. Also beefheart, shrimp, krill, earthworms, waxworms, squid, scallops, clam, oyster......I like to mix it up from time to time.

they are picky eaters and it can be difficult to get them on pellets sometimes. Hikari foodsticks are a good alternative, my dovii seems to like them at least....
I feed my male Jag Hikari Cichlid Gold, freeze-dried shrimp, earthworms, crickets, thawed shrimp and young convict cichlids as treats.
krill and hikari and he gets turkey for about a week from thanksgiving leftovers and same with ham for christmas.
i feed mine hikari cichlid gold and cichlid staple.... on occasion however i feed him a small child or two.
Staple: Omega One, Hikari Bio-gold, Hikari Massivore.
Other: Market shrimp, fresh fish(tilapia or cod), nightcrawlers and freeze dried jumbo krill soaked in vita-chem

My guy is on Hikari Massivore as a staple and freeze-dried Tetra Jumbo Krill.
Would like to try some other things, but I don't want to spoil him and have him go OFF of the pellets.
I had this happen with a female adult JAG and she never returned to pellets no matter how long I starved her.

You only want to feed the "other things" periodically. I feed one item off my list every other day, but ONLY after they've already had their pellets. I don't feed it as a meal, more like a dessert, and have never had a problem feeding pellets.
My jag would'nt touch pellets until he got to about 6". Now he is on hikari gold as the staple. Supplemented with shrimp,krill,silversides,and ocassional earthworms.
biogold and my special formula injected krill as staple, but i feed 6 different types of pellets, 2 sticks, and massivore. . i also raise feeder guppies, so they get those on the weekends.
