what do you guys think about this guys fish keeping practices

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Haha. Sorry but this reminds me of family guy when the asians are like tiny everything!!

What i really dont understand is how you could have such a rinky dinky setup like that and be proud of posting it. I just couldnt do it, i would have to clean up or something. Get some nicer racks etc. O yea and make more room for the fish :D

Oh no, not another "my tiny glass box is bigger than your tiny glass box, so you suck" thread. Personally I'd give em more room, but the fish are healthy looking and not deformed...so defining what is too small a space is up to the individual.

Those fish are IMHO more "happy" than a number of large active fish we keep regularly, like ID sharks, TSNs, etc, in small tanks.

EDIT: Funny how putting bettas in the same set-up seems to be appropriate...

I think it's easy to define a space as too small when the FHs can't even turn around.

However, I do think you make some good points here. All of our glass boxes are tiny compared to rivers/lakes, and that's an understatement.

Well the one video says right in the title something about competition. If so I would think they are not in those tanks for long at all.

Those are some big bettas :headshake

My guess is that he maybe in the business of selling FH, and those tanks maybe used as holding/isolation tanks separating the "show" fish from the rest until they're sold. Although I did notice some of those had tank mates with them

well it would be more appropriate for betas due to not only their size but there natural environment of living in small puddles and very shallow rice paddy. but basically what surprised me the most was how the flowerhorns were still developing big koks and such....from what iv'e read and learned over the years is that flowerhorns could'nt grown and produce big koks in living conditions like that.

I don't think they grew in those spaces; I think they have been placed there for a short period of time.

Indeed, he's buying them at that size and displaying them.

I must say I am quite dissapointed that you didn't wrath about this one. You gave me a couple good shots about my tank when my fish had plenty of room, then stated i will be over stocked. I mean come on, the flowerhorns cant even turn around!

I gave you wrath because you were complaining about someone's giant fish when you have the largest reef bony reef fish in the world, the Bumblebee Grouper (grows to 3m and 880 pounds) in a 210 gallon tank which already has a 5 foot plus moray eel, plus a number of other fish.

It was the hypocrisy that bothered me, not your stocking.
