My guy at the lfs said aqueon doesn't make metal stands for tanks over 55g due to liability reasons. . For what that's worth.


Sounds like an excuse to sell more overpriced crappy wood stands to me lol

aqueon metal stands aren't available in my area, but I did some digging and it looks like:

you put the metal stand together yourself. they aren't welded steel.

probably why they won't do big ones. comparing a self assembled metal stand to a one piece welded one is comparing apples and oranges.

Yeah this isn't something you put together ha, it's welded angle iron. I shook it a little bit at the store and it moved but of course it was empty. Once the tank is full it would be a different story. The LFS seemed very confident in them. Matter of fact the majority of their stands were that type. Never had any failures according to them.

Well, change of plans. Long story short I met a weldor through my work that is gonna build myself and him one out of iron tubing instead.

Good plan! That is probably the best option, in my opinion. If I still had a TIG welder laying around I would build that kind more.
