What do you keep with your pikes?

Just curious to see what everyone keeps with their Crenicichla. I've seen some super interesting setups before that you wouldn't think would work. What is your fav. fish to keep with your pikes in their setup?

I have to say personally, I've kept just about everything with my pikes. From barbs to arowana, and TONS of different types of cichlids. Some worked out superbly, some the pikes let me know they didn't like. :irked::ROFL:

Personally, my all time fav. fish to keep with my pikes has to be Hoplarchus psittacus. They just compliment each other so well, especially when kept with the Lugubris pikes. They work great with all types of pikes though, and make the tank look complete. If you've never kept them, you should look into it, they are great fish.

You gotten that marm/venz problem figured out yet? If you need me to hold the marm for ya for a while I'll be more than happy to! :)
 
I keep mine with dempseys, severums, aro, blood parrot, earth eaters, and bichirs. The strangest bond has happened between my crenicichla lenticulata and two polypterus senegalus i have in my 135. the lent chases away anyone who comes near his cave, but doesnt mind the occasion "stop and chat" from the two senegalus.
 
ive kept mine in cichlid comm. and right now hes with all the fat cats, which will sadly be sold soon :(

good to see you back peanut. that little venn. i used to have is now about 14" and prolly 2-3" around.

It isn't really a problem, I just never see my marm. If you would just give me your 300 until you have room to set it up, I could seperate them.:naughty:
 
Ha, touche! I fear though that if I do that though you might have seperation anxiety from it. :p Besides, knowing your luck at keeping tanks in one piece, hahahaha, I might never get it back! :p

use to keep basically anything. most interesting was Frontosa. main problem was getting any food to them as the pikes moved much faster and ate way more.

my main thing now is Heros. I have Atabapo with the Fire and various ones in with a marm. Just added 2 psittacus as well

when ever I can get 600G+ it will be heros, uaru and psitts.
 
You're right I should store empty like you and they would be less likely to break. Heck I even have to give you fish to put in them.
