What do you know about these fish?

I started with a ornate thinking that was all I would get and now I have 16. 7 different sub-species. I won't stop till I have 2 of each.

You might be different.

I'd have to say the ornates. But I like them all for their own personalities.

Palmas polli's and Delhezi's stay relativelly small compared to ornates and have an awesome personality and look to them. If you aren't planning on getting a 24" wide tank(like a 220gallon) for an ornate then I would suggest them. The polli's never stop moving it seems.

BICHIRS ARE ESCAPE ARTISTS - don't trust their innocent look... close all escape routes - yes, even the smallest of smallest.

I concur.

Ornates are a little more popular because of their markings. Dels are pretty sweet also though. Bichirs in general have been a favorite pet of mine. You for sure have to have a completely sealed lid though, that includes the spaces for pump tubing and such also. And they will eat anything they can fit in their mouths...

Sand substrate is cool with them also, they tend to burrow down into a bit. I had an endlicheri that would cover up completely, only his eyes and nostrils poking out of the sand. When a feeder fish would swim over him, BAM! He'd burst out of the sand like an explosion...pretty neat!
