If you want to get him a buddy(as in interact with each other) it's good to get the same sub-species cause the different species that I have all ignore each other. Endli hangs with the Endli, Ornate with the ornate and so on.
 
i figured that but ive always loved them and would like to get other types of bichirs. I have a 75 gallon but i also have 125 i wanna set up when i get the room
 
I'd go with Dels(for availability reasons). And also the Ansorgii's have the look of Endlicheri's but stay smaller also.
Whats the dimensions on the 125?
 
African butterfly fish WILL rough and tumble with your arowana if you put it in before you remove the aro. Butterfly fish is far more zealous at attacking your arowana, but because of size differences if your arowana is thicker it will scoop your butterfly fish with one strike. forcing either/or to a lower depth of the tank but ABFs refuse to dive lower unlike arowanas so hope it wins otherwise it will keep rising back up to fight the aro to the death.

I want bichirs too but i can't have them. no help here sorry.
 
i think my 125 is 6ft by 18 inches by 22 inches i think. MY ARO WILL BE MY SOURCE OF PURCHASING THE BUTTERFLY FISH AND BICHIR
 
what do you mean your source? you want to sell it to buy the other fish you mean?

i could only sell a 1' aro for about $50. if that covers the expense for all 3 fish... i know butterfly fish are cheap but bichirs aren't usually.
