What do you think are the most useless options on a car?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh no,.......ballinouttacntrol......I think you just opened up a new extra-large-Mega-can of worms! "i was raised by women, nuff said" :headbang2 (cannot comment any further....laughing too hard, and might get 'deleted' if I post right now!)

lol, i'm a firm believer of nurture over nature. we're all products of our environments. my environment did not consist of working on cars growing up or a desire to learn about them in my early learning years

let's face it, most women are still not exactly mechanically inclined

#1 NOT having an option MANDATORY for the automakers, and passing a law like it is illegal for the operator of a motor vehicle to turn on the windshield wipers WITHOUT also turning on the headlights. WTF? If it is important, make the automakers provide this feature. Otherwise it is just another prime example of our governments corruption!

#2 Automatic motion locks. I can lock the damn car on my own if I want. I DO NOT WANT my doors locking automatically when my car is in gear!

Explain how it is a 'Prime example of your governments corruption'? It's common sense to turn your lights on if it's pissing down with rain to let other motorists know where you are. The fact that your government has made it a law tells me there are enough idiots on the road to warrant such a step. The controls to switch both on are at your disposal. is it really such a challenge to activate them both if necessary?

And number 2; Again, it's a safety feature. If I had kids in the back of my car, I'd want to be driving safe in the knowledge that they couldn't open the door while the car was in motion. It doesn't do you any harm by locking, so why the fuss?

The thread title is 'useless options'. Those two items are neither pointless nor options.

*ballinouttacntrol......are you turning into a nasty lil' troll? I've worked in factories most of my life. Women are just as mechanically inclined as any guy. It's just where a persons interests lye. I know quite a few men who couldn't change a tire if their life depended on it, and they have no clue where to add the quart of oil, when the stick reads below the min. mark! Not returning to this thread, as I don't want to be banned. I'm not angry or nothing like that. Imo, your opinion of who is mechanically inclined/intelligent is way out of wack, especially if you were raised by women, you should know what you are saying is way out of ..............hmmm............you are troll'n, aren't you!?

He made a valid point. Most women these days are NOT mechanically inclined. Surely there's exceptions, but it's not the majority. It's not an insult, it's the truth. He never did say anything about intelligence. Not sure where you came up with that crazy idea.

Sounds like you need new parking brake shoes if it does that.

Eh, who knows... car is a piece o' crap. I only keep it because it gets 36+ GPH.

Huh? you're joking right? men were not mentioned in this...especially since what brought this up is how i'm not mechanically incline when it comes to cars. you also proved my point...nurture is YOUR environment. IE your family/childhood upbringing, your social and economic status, what your peers are into etc etc. prince harry and william will not get the same upbringing as tyrone in east campton. is there a possiblity they may have some of the same interests? yes. will the same exact life skills be passed along...probably not. lol, you act like my mom's a useless piece of crap because we didn't work on cars together after my dad passed away. roflmao

My sister has called me 4 times and my GF 2 times over the past 10 years to change out flat... Both just stood there every time looking at me and how I changed it. They wouldn't even know what the spare tire looks like.

If a guy can not change out a flat tire... something is very wrong. It's just something you know how to do with out ever learning IMO.
