The building has rodi...its like in chemistry labs you have faucets for distilled water or whatever? Well our science building uses rodi. So theres a knob next to the sink and lots of hose. We also use some on the planted tank display we have....but that is a 50/50 mix I think.

because i get less silica and phospates in the water and in all realality I am using real ocean water that is better for them abd the corals than tap.

RODI i AM TELLING YOU i REALLY DONT USEEITHER ONE EXCEPT TO TOP OFF i USE REAL OCEAN WATER AND RO WATER TO TOP OFF AND i REALLY DONOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS EITHER.

i HAVE AN RO MACHINE THAT TOPS OFF MY TANK JUST FOR MY SALT WATER TANK BUT IF I STILL HAD A FREAH WATER TANK i WOULD STILL USE RO WATER.

Sharon, try and consolidate your posts some!

My planted tank is using a fairly advanced DIY co2 system...I love to tinker with the things. Lots of really easy ways to change things in a big way with those.

I use real ocean water and also use RO water for top offs because the water in las vegas is real bad, they add phoshpates and a lot of silica in the water and the chlorine and chlorines in the water. so that is why i use what I use plus the oceaan water is what my corals like the most because it has plankton in it.
