the cuts
feed your juvie jars to get maximum color mine wont eat pellets only crickets and mosquito fish.

ya i was thinking about that but hes only 6 inches was thinking about letting him get to 8-9 first.

No need, 6" is way beyond the size too small to starve. To give you a comparison, I usually wont recommend people starve anything under 4", but there have been quite a people who have done that and have it work out perfectly fine.

alright thank you for the info i am gonna start tomorrow.

6 inches.. is huge should try to feed him market shrimp, got mine at 2" ate pellets in 1 week. give it market shrimp first then try krill then use pellets when it gets to floating krill.

for the color use a dark substrate to get a black to dark green...white to get a gold with green sheen...from my exp. also no need to starve your fish just feed alottile of the food that it likes the sub a pice of what ever else ...it may take it right away...may take a few tries...point is it will take is eventually...i have never starved any of my fish and they all eat diff foods, like shrimp, fillets, pellets...the only fish that i have that is stubbon is 2 of my retics, but they are picking at other foods...also my hybrid pbass wont eat anything but live fish and live black worms...i am working on it though...it will hit shrimp but not eat it...my orino eats shrimp aswell from the same method...

i tried the starving method but i had a bunch of crickets at my house so i fed him the rest of those last Thursday i started again and he will bit the pellet sometimes chew it into small pieces and then spit it out so i think i am getting close also i smashed a pellet into Betta sized food and he ate it then sorry for all the spelling errors

he is getting nice and dark with the black background i just want some red to come out on his tail its all yellow spots right now
