What does everyone do for work?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I used to be a rigger in telecommunications, I would climb cell towers to bring people their cell coverage. Now I'm making a transition to water purification, installing water filters in houses, breweries, aquariums, pet stores, offices... You name it.

Sorry, I meant those things were part of the job in the US. Here we are based on a fortnightly roster and guaranteed 80 hours a fortnight minimum (I'm at home getting paid now as the log traffic has slowed down a bit over winter!), and no point-to-point. We travel about 4 hours out from our depot and change over with the crew from the next city, if there is no train in the opposite direction we come straight home in a car.

Here it's split into local and road pools. On the local pool you won't go any further than hour out and your just placing and switching cars. On the road pool you go up to 4 hours out and sometimes you have to switch cars but depending on where your headed you may get sent back home in a car, put up in a hotel and catch a train back home, or you may be asked to take the train to the next terminal and catch a car back home.

Im a interview away from getting in a elevator mechanic/builder apprenticeship the pay is nice and I wouldn't have to be on call, which would work out a little better for me and the family. I hear you about working a normal 9-5, there's no way I could be in a cubicle all day, I need my freedom.

I teach elementary grades at a small rural K-8 public school. I currently teach the 4th grade in the morning and 5th grade in the afternoon, but in the past I have taught combined classes of 1st/2nd, 1st/2nd/3rd, 2nd/3rd, 2nd/3rd/4th, and 4th/5th.

I keep a couple tanks at my school, a 125 in my classroom that I am looking at changing up (just a few G. steindachneri and some Tetras, currently) and a 300G with my Common Snapping Turtle.
