What does ur family/friends think of ur fish keeping??

Was just intrigued to know what other MFK members family n frinds think bout keeping fish...I know that when i first started keeping my fish my parents were soo pissed off with how much money n time i spent in my bungalo with my fish...however things are much better now...seeing they have their own communty tank now set up... hehe :D
 
Its very weird, because my parents suggested building a 400 gallon tank but get a little mad saying that i spend all of my money on fish :screwy:

Either way, they like that I have a nice hobby. Atleast I don't drink or smoke ;)
 
I hear the words "Your f*ckn crazy!?" a lot from my family, most recently just 2 days ago when I got my old man to help me move the 220g tank into my bedroom! But its not just fish keeping that prompts family to say that. :(

I figure if no one is responding to my actions with the above phrase, then I'm not trying hard enough! :woot:
 
my girlfriend likes the fish just as long as they arent talked about at length. She started to like the fish more after she was able to pick a blue gourami from the fish store. my friends want my fish to be big monsters that kill everything and dont believe me when I say my baby dats and peacock bass are gonna be big and nasty. They like how the tanks looks. my mother loves it and is a hobbyist herself... and is like a fishtank witch doctor. she didnt do things the conventional or "right" way and did things her way. She actually used to grab african cichlids when they were pregnant and shake the babies out into cups... like a midwife. when they got sick, she found remedies like epson salt on her own. she's a little crazy asian woman speaking broken english and performing fish magic.
 
My family and friends just don't understand why i keep on buying fish and saying that i am obsessed with my fishes, But now it's better, i guess that they came to realize that no matter what they say, it has no effect. :grinno: :naughty:
 
My girlfriends got a few tanks herself and my mam and dads got there own community tank so its all cool, im straight edge as well so all my money goes into my tanks! Oh yeah my uncles got a massive outdoor pond he built himself, keeps koi, lobsters and other crazy ****....all in the family i spose!
 
My wife thinks i'm obsessed with keeping fish but she is getting used to it,,,,i could be doing worse things like going out with my buddies all the time drinking and screwing around,,,its just a nice hobby that has an expense attached,,,,but then again look at golfing and other interest that people have that are much more expensive !! :)
 
my fiance doesn't mind unless i buy a setup without asking her first. she wants me to get into saltwater/reefkeeping, but i still don't know if i can dedicate the time/effort with the tanks i already have.

my parents think its pretty neat. when they come by the house my dad will sit and just watch all of the fish in my 300gl.
