what does your sump look like

ok now i have a question about sumps.....ok i understand that the pump sits in the clean water side to pump it back into the tank.....but how does the water get into the sump?....is the inlet into the sump suppose to be below water level so that the pump will cause suction and draw it through?? or is it siphon, but then i would think with siphon that wouldn't keep up with the pump ....i've seen inlets both ways and now i'm confused??

ok i guess that makes sense but wouldn't the pump, pump the water out faster than it comes in???

my pump is 900lph uses 22mm pipe, my overflow is 40mm pipe so it handles it. i am going to get a more powerfull pump eventually so will put another overflow on my tank, but atm it running fine

That is why you have to match the pump to the overflow. The overflow needs to be able to flow more than the pump can return to the tank.

All these nice cheap buckets, but spend the extra $5-10 and get an easy-to-maintain set of drawers for your wet/drys.

I just used what I had on hand. I go through about 20 5-gallon buckets a year at my wife's business.
