What eats algae?...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I will try that.

Do you all know if they take flake as well as algae?

To be honest I think mine does. He comes off the glass and swims with my danios when it's feeding time. Half the time I mistake him as one of them. I do not know if he is actually eating it but he appears to be.

Edit to add: I offer flakes, frozen brine shrimp, freeze dried blood worms, and algae discs too not all together at one time I just vary their diet. Had my oto for over a month now and he seems happy and healthy.

For the flag tails, my plants are what I would worry about. The 29 is relatively new, so the plants haven't grown out very much, and I really enjoy the plants.:)
lol

Cool. I am for sure getting atleast one of those, but I have other tanks that could use some new fish...:)

Cool cool.

They seem like neat little fish. If only petstores would replace those horrid CAE's with these. Such better fish it seems.

I totally agree CAE's are evil little buggers. I hear soooo many good reviews about SAE's but I can't find any or find a REAL one.

(Sorry can you tell I am bored at work?? Waiting on 5 o-clock)

lol.

When I go to LFS I am going to check to see if they have SAE. I don't remember ever seeing any there either.

SAE are great for the problem but monsters will use them as snacks, large plecos are an option and shoudn't get too hassle, mentioned previously about them getting lazy I've never found that IME. You could try an aglae scrubber, I'm not saying it will work as mainly it's used for salt water:

Pm the OP for more info, although there are alot of pages on the subject

Most of the hair algae is actually growing on my plants, so I don't think a scrubber would work. Thanks for the link though...
