What eel-like fish is right for me?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
dojo loache might work
personally I have two in a tank with no cover and have had no problem
interesting fish they really do freak out when the barametric pressure changes hence being called a weather loache
they MIGHT get out I know they can, but mine never have tried.

just a thought, if this tank is at work all the birchers, reed fish etc pretty much are night time feeders so this could cause a problem if you work 9-5. if i am pointing out the obvious then i apologise, just a thought.

sounds like quite an impressive work tank, the tank at my work is full of monster fish............................food and i have to beg steal and borrow just to keep that going

good luck

even tho it is considered brackish water..i would have to vote dragon goby. many people keep them in fw with much success. do some research on it

Yea bad advice here.. the cichlids would pick it to death.

with the african cichlids i would only suggest polyterus sp. since they are from africa and encounter each other. However with no hood no eel. They all like to jump.

And the blood parrot being extremely aggressive comment made me smile. Yeah ive had and seen some overly territorial ones in my fish keeping, but they cant close their mouths, so they are nothing but annoying to the other fish.

Hmm, I had a senagal bichir with african cichlids(mostly mbuna types) & had no problems, but bichir will jump if scared. Also, had 3 small kuhli/java loaches in there & they all survived & never escaped, didn't even swim near surface. The kuhli will add some very nice purples & oranges to your tank.

If you have alot of decorations & hiding spots on the bottom, a bichir or loaches would be good.
