I have 2 Eheim canister 2028 and 2250 for 6 years never a problem I have bichirs and bush fish. it all depend on fish the size and how much you feed and do not forget water changes.

1 fx5 should do the trick!

Or you could get 2x Tetratech ex1200 for the same price, (probably a bit less) and these babies comes with everything.

Tetratech are not sold in the states.

pre-drilled tank with wet/dry...as mentioned above, plenty of filtration, mass oxygenation, and a place you can hide heater(s) UV, or anything else you might add...also a great place to add meds etc...

wow! 5 hydrosponge ,your tank must be crystal clear(alot of people dont realize that sponge filters are great)

a lot of people do think sponge filters are great thats why loads of people go mad for the FX5 it one big sponge filter

I'm liking my scrubber at this point, so I'll say for a 125...a nice canister and an algae scrubber.

Wow thanks guys! I appreciate it. I will get on researching these types right away! :) This has been very helpful. Thanks again!

I will add to the wet/dry side. If you can do it, there is no better setup than a good overflow / sump style filter. The overflows drain onto a sponge or filter sock of some kind for mechanical filtration, the turbulance created is super oxygenating, and you can get massive amounts of bio surface area depending on what kind of bio media you decide to go with. Alot of it really depends on what stock you are going to have in the tank as well. If you are going to have larger predatory fish, I wouldnt go with anything less than a wet / dry sump. If youre gonna have smaller community type fish, a large canister like the fx5 would be plenty, but the sump would be the better choice.
