Im currently keeping my 4 Argenteas with Cichlasoma Pearsei and 3 fire mouths. they all seem to get on well with no aggression whatsoever. they are all around 3-4" at the moment (Pearsei is 6")
What fish go well with Vieja Argentea?

argentea killing a Dovii? thats kind of unbelievable. but saying that i have witnessed a rogue angel fish go face to face with a parrot cichlid and won . .
i have a vieja argentea in a 180. his tankmates are silver dollars, a red oscar, firemouth that holds his own very well, chocolate cichlid and two green sevs. my tank gets along great at the moment... but i know about the aggression of viejas and im keeping an eye on him.
i think the aggression really depends on the fish itself-some are just aggressive, and others just arent.. same as with any other fish, there is always an exception to the rule.
they are fast growers-like an oscar. and they love their veggies. when i sink a rock with veggies tied to it, hes always there with the sevs picking at it. if it ever gets to the point where the other fish cant hold their own with him, sadly he will have to go-which i hope never happens because hes such a beautiful fish.

nicaraguense goes well with Argentea. my mate has them together for 2 years and they never fight. i may get 4 in the weekend (Nics) £3.50 for 3.5" specimans at wholesale tropicals in bethnal green.
you keep almost the same fish as me Navygirl. bet you get more aggression from the firemouth than the ARGENTEA'S? . . I do anyway.
Ha its funny but this thread put me off them so much that i got a full refund on the Vieja and the Jack Dempsey earlier on and went and bought a Rotkeil and a Red Head Tapajos.
Shame i got all the negative opinions first which made me nervous about keeping it because they really made think this fish i had was a nasty pos so i sold it back to the shop.
The shop owner was totally miffed tho and told me he has 3 adults with black belts,Oscars and Severums in his big tank hes got at home and said they are the least aggressive fish in the tank.
I'd made my mind up by then tho and he offered me the £8 back that i paid for it and also fully refunded my JD....so i'm going down the peaceful route now.
