well i just picked up my first aro today he's around 7 inches, i tried feeding him market shrimp and krill. now success? what else should i try or should i just wait till tomorrow to feed him since he's still gettig used to the tank

At that size it will be able to easily eat pellets. Once you've established it on pellets you can add a variety of frozen foods, worms, and crickets to the diet. There is a good sticky regarding foods for aros.

Hikari aro sticks, massivore delight, cichlid gold and bio gold. Like everyone said get um started on pellets.
yeah i bought live meal worms and shrimp pellets. hopefully i'll get him to eat tomorrow. as for the oscars, i dont worry about them, they are gentle giants, they followed him around the tank, but they are fine now.

Before leaving the LFS, try asking what have they been feeding the silver. If they feed it feeder fishes or frogs, maybe get a small bag or small quantity before leaving the shop just to make sure you have something it will eat. (If you dont plan of starving it to accept pellets)
If you pro pellets and dont like feeding live, research in the forums what the other MKFers have been feeding them and get a bottle or packet of those. Proceed to starve the aro.
