What gars can be with a spotted florida as a tankmate?
Longnose?
Shortnose?
Gator?
Tropical?
cuban?

Or maybe needle nose or Hujeta (fake gars)

tropicals will work safely... cubans will proberly work safely, as would longnose if you can keep em alive (very tricky to house successfully), shortnose are kinda of aggressive but a maybe, as are gators but more aggressive and they will obviously also outgrow a sp/fl too....

i have always been told that shortnose are just crazy...they arent all that aggressive, but tweek out and kill themselves very frequently.

gator gar and cubans also are not for beginners. cubans are very sensitive to water parameters and gator gar just get huge and are very aggressive.

longnose can be very tricky to keep and sould probably be kept by the more experienced gar keepers.

if you can find a tropical gar that would be your best bet as a tankmate as long as price and availability dont become an issue.

another florida/spotted would also be an ideal tanmate.

hope this helps

these are definitely your best bets. if you're just getting into gars, i would suggest going with another Florida/spotted gar--

the cubans here don't seem to be aggressive?

a shoal of spotted/florida gar is always a sight to behold:)

just like my 4 Florida spotted gars(9-10") have 2 more in a grow out tank (got them when they were 3" and for free)and they are 6"ish i guess and will wait till they reach at least 8" before they go in with the others
