What Gar is this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are bred to be true platinum and the background won't influence them.

There are fish places in white tanks and try to get them to lighten up. Then sold for high prices. Once in a regular tank it won't hold its plantinum color.

sorry but how are they bred to become a platinum gar or white or snow gars? i thought these are just work of nature to be born abnormal.

so is this a WTT gar in the video?

thanks everyone for the replies :)

Looks like just a regular washed out gator gar. It's housed in all white surroundings. Which is a method used to WTT (White Tank Treated) to get that white/plat look. I could be wrong and others may chime in.
right on, I am not great with the plat/wtt/snow etc etc stuff, just wanted to make sure OP knew it was a dinosaur of a fish haha.

They are just bred till a recessive trait of lack of color in a fish is found then get another of the same fish and breed. Cont till the offspring get more white or lack of color.

There are ones in the wild but don't last long due to coloring. If they are caught will be labeled as leucistic.

The platinum, snow or white title will be sometimes referred to the degree of leucisim. That's what I assume.

Not sure if the fish is in wtt tank but take it out and put it in a normal tank and see what happens. Maybe won't be so clean of a platinum will be seen.
