The thing is.....
not too far back a number of Geophagus species were all just considered location variants of G altifrons.
The differences are very subtle....
size of mid body spot, where it is place, if it is solid or opaque.
When the one below (from about 20 some years ago was sold to me , it was just called G altifrons.
What it is today I don't know, maybe Ryan does.
The one below was sold a Tapajos
It unfortunately has characteristics of a couple species. Do you know if this fish was wild-caught?
