I got a 29 when i was around 8 and never looked back since. I've had a tank of some sorts for that 30+ years since :) Can't remember not having a tank since then.

For me it was from my father as a kid as far back as i can recall my dad had a fish tank i would sit for hours after hours just watching them i can still see the huma huma triggers and hippo tang swimming threw the tank.He would tell me story's on how he would take a bus to NY and go to the shops and buy a fish in the city well the fish would come in a container similar to a Chinese food container back then.

I also remember going to all the shops around with my dad just looking for the best fish he could find it never got old it was fun and i still do it to this day but now its with my daughter.

I soon had my first 10.gal that i stocked with tetras....as i got old enough to get a part time job my first job was in a local pet shop "beta pet shop" every week i owed more then i made cause i would always get more tanks fish filters you get the idea..worked in a 2nd pet shop when i was around 16 to 17yrs old...Same deal not much money but i had some awesome tanks lol here i am pushing 40 and still love the hobby it really hurt to be out of it for a few years but now im back and will never be with out again knock on wood...

sorry lol, for me i always kept them since i was 8 or less, had some badly stocked tanks mind you. a 30 gall with 4 koi, angelfish, corys and all sort of fish, then i moved to koi ponds.

when i was 15 i youtubed videos of large goldfish and landed on a video of an oscar and crayfish, then on i kept looking at oscar vids and researched about them. thats how i got my 115 :D now im hooked on. my next beasts will be my catfish addiction which has started :P

For me, it started with an empty 15 gallon tank I got from my boss. Went online to research on how to do it then came across this site. Ahh, the perfect recipe for happiness. Got hooked!

Had tanks throughout my early childhood that my family maintained. In grade 10 was when I really got into te hobby. Started with the guppy in the sealed jar experiment. That quickly turned into a five gallon, then it's gone out of control from there.

I was at a bar during happy hour and decided to check out the LFS next door. Saw the feeding frenzy of a bunch of Exodons. I figured since they were freshwater why not use the freshest water I can get. Every week I would go the gas station to fill up several 5 gallon jugs of drinking water for my water changes. After a month, I went back and told the guy there how much of a pain it was filling up the jugs every freakin week. The guy laughed and apologized. Then he introduced me to a little bottle called PRIME.;)

cool my lfs has a bar next door to
