i had a tank when i was a kid.. never really payed attention to it but i enjoyed having it... then 20+ years passed with no tanks.. met my gf who had a 5gallon hex set up on the kitchen counter for her kid.. that was 3 years ago... shes still here and now theres a 5gallon bucket that i use for daily topoffs....

My dad use to keep bettas when I was a child, I would stare at them all day long. I grew up and started to buy bettas again around last year, and had 30 of them at one time, thanks to ultimatebettas.com (that is how i found this site). I only have 2 now, I have also bred the bettas. After the bettas, my new addiction was tropical fish like platies, and guppies I also bred them too. After the livebearers, I went to red cherry shrimp with planted tanks, then nano planted tanks, after the planted tanks I got into saltwater. Now I am moving into monsterfish. I have one senagal bichir. I could have bought a new car with all the fish addiction lol, but I love fish. All of this was just during the course of one year. I am now 21. I have around 12 tanks and more betta tanks then I can count, and recently sold my 75 gallon.
well, my parents always had a tank while we grew up. But when I bought my house and decided to build a bar down stairs with a tank built into it is when it all started. Now theres a tank in it, on top of it, next to it, and across from it, and now the 220 is being setup up stairs
well.. i guess it started with me wanting to put my 8ft python in a bigger home when i was young about maybe 7 or 8 but my mom said no and i had to get ride of the snake! so my dad said let's get some fish and you can get a big tank. it started with a 55 then a 90 and then a 125 long. long and behold i had to move and the tank's brok in the process so i started back up again with my girlfriend approvel!!! but she's not gonna be happy when i build a indoor pond the size of QUEEN SIZE BED lol.... im 25 now and i hope to have set-up's that are just as nice as some of you fellow MFK'S
my mum wont let me have any other animals.....because i cant look after anything without getting bored a couple of weeks later (bear in mind i have a child.....yep lol)
so when we moved and were renting somewhere, we went in to a pet shop down the road and saw these fat lil goldfish and my mum said, when we move we can get a couple of them.
so we finally moved in june 07...and i got a lil 32litre with 2 of the goldfish in it (obviously listend to the pet shop and just left it for an hour and then dumped the fish in.....they lasted about 3 months ill last year for my 21st i got my 60gal and a load of goldfish in it. they got ich and my mums friend advised me to put a spoonful of dettol (antibacterial cleaner) in there...i cant believe i let her do it!!! all the fish dead within an hour.
so then i got tropical and they were too big for the 60g so i just had to get a 125g lol
iv had a few loses along the way but due to my filter giving up when i was away and my air pump gave up when i was away again.
this was all in a year...its my 22nd bday in 2 weeks lol
other than that....iv never had water problems and i love learning about my fish...although i do do the research before i get them.

wow im just reading back, and the amount of people whose parents kept them.....now i have a problem....if my lil girl gets it as bad as me then i think we may end up having to eat the fish to stay alive!!!
