What got you started in fishkeeping?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i always liked them since i was a younun.. according to my dad that is..

so anyway.. everytime i even saw a fish tank.. i would run up to it and just stare at the fish for hours... if my dad told me it was time to go.. i would cry and fight to stay and watch the fish..

so for my 5th or 6th birthday present he bought me a 29 gallon.. when alot of the fish kept dying he just gave up.. because obviously i wasn't able to take care of it myself..

once we moved into out new house.. i was like OMFG!!! OMFG!!! OMFG!!! im setting this thing up again :D viola.. we now have 8 tanks and a pond..

im 19 now.. and i got back into keeping when i was 14-15 i dont think im ever gonna sell the 29 that "started it all"

I got started with a 10 gallon tank with mollies and Chinese algae eaters.I caught my 3 year old sitting there starring at the tank. She was quiet for the first time ever. Then the mollies had babies Christmas eve and the kids loved it.And I really liked the aro's so that is how it started.

Went to the fair, landed a ping pong ball, brought home a goldfish. I felt bad about it being in a bowl, so got my Mom to get a 30 gal.

Always wanted fish, my grandparents bred angelfish, and multiple livebearers, along with some cory cats and discus. I think it's in the genes....:D

I've always enjoyed other peoples aquariums, and I used to keep retiles. But they can be pretty smelly, and I got tired of scraping up crap. So I wanted to set up an aquarium. But I didn't want one like everyone else had, I wanted a big ol huge one, and big fish too. So when I found a listing for a 200 with stand, lights, filters, for $700 in the classifieds I pulled the trigger on it. Since then I've moved into an appartment so the 200 went in storage, and now I've got a 75 like everyone else. Someday I'll buy another house and the 200 will rise again!
