This morning my oscar had this circular wound on it's side. Is it a bite mark? possibly from my clown knife? And just as I thought everyone was getting along great:irked: He doesn't seem to be in pain or anything. He's swimming fine and, of course, eating fine. And when he's not eating, he still begs me for food every time I walk by the tank.

Looks like a bite mark. I'm not sure if there is some sort of disease specific to oscars though, as I know nothing about them....

Only another oscar (which is best friends with this guy), a jack dempsy who is about the same size, 4 bala sharks (about 4-5" each), and a common pleco (14"). The JD is a big wuss and is afraid of everything so I ruled him out.

Really? I would have never thought.... the pleco seems so peaceful. Think the O will heal alright on it's own, or should I put it in my hospital tank and treat it with something.

I think the pleco may have gotten a hold of him.

+1 If they don't get enough to eat they will sometimes feed on the slime coat of other fish, at night.

He definately eats enough. Alge wafers in the AM and frozen krill or bloodworms at night. And whenever my wife make a salad, he'll get some fresh veggies too. He's got a little pot belly on him haha!
