What happened to my oscar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
keep the water pristine clean and he will heal fast.. but watch what might be going on in the tank.. someone was trying to bite.. i cannot believe he would just lay there and let the pleco do it..so i am assuming it was the ck..but how big is the ck..?

CK is around 10-11" now. He swims around the tank during the day and doesn't seem to bother anyone. Maybe his temperment changes when the lights go out? I try to keep my water as clean as possible with an fx5, Hydro-sponge V, and weekly 50% w/c. Should salt be added?

That mark is IDENTICLE to the mark I had on 4 of my Koi when I dropped a 16" common Pleco into my pond over the summer. A buddy needed a place to keep him until he finished renovating his house and the pond was available. The Pleco ended up in my kiddie pool in the basement.

agree with the pleco, i'd just get rid of it, make more of a mess than they fix anyways

Do you have any protection on your filter intake pipe?

Last lot of pictures I took of my Oscars had mystery circle marks on their fins, turned out they were hanging around the filter intake at night and getting sucked onto it. I put a guard on the pipe and I no longer see the marks.

Nice and round, just like a Pleco's mouth...And at 14" he's big enough to have his way with most any tankmate in your tank.

I think the pleco is likely the problem but... Do you have any water intake tubing/piping that matches that size?
