What happened to ]v[FK?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Too late I'm balding. Lol! Your right I feel I'm tolerant I don't think I've ever flamed just it's been getting to me lately. Just felt like I had to say something maybe it'll open some eyes. Sometimes people don't even realize what they're doing till they're called on it. Thanx Jsodwi for the support I was worried posting this thinking I was the only one.

I use the block feature, its really made a difference. As soon as I spot an obvious idiot I just hit the block user button. Although it doesnt work all the time, it is helpful.

Playing in favor of the op as well.
I know I don't have a lot of numbers under my belt, and I'm new to the show. I spend most of my time here at MFK either researching, PM'ing between good friends, and always hitting the "New Post" tab.

I know where ever you go, being a Car forum, a Fish forum, or a Movie forum you will always have people who believe they know best, or "know" they know best. I agree with both sides, though.. well to a degree. I 'have' been around long enough to see the very same threads almost every day.. and can see why some people get a little upset. Use the Search.

However.. it just doesn't end there. Where does the 'helping with annoyance' end and the actual abuse start?

Sure, the world is filled with mean hateful people, but this is a community. Arn't we here to help one another.. ? (again.. I can understand the stress to forwards the search)..

Last night I was curled up thread surfing.. and came across a Tattoo one we have here..
Totally nothing to do with Fish.. but It brings a touch of life to the game, shows each and every one of the posters in a new light.

By the time I finished reading I was disgusted... To some people tossing some images up on the nets nothing, an no biggie .. to others, they are really going out on a limb.. They are opening them selves up. taking a giant leap, you may say.. They are doing it, cause others are, and unless the actually post "flame my tat" who are you to bash them for what they believe is art on their body? There are some pretty hateful people out there.

Thats just a small example.

Again.. I personally know there is a 'search' .. where some fail to notice, or fail to care, but the sites a whole lot bigger then that.. I personally believe in free speech, unless it's used to degrade or belittle someone.

... Momma always said... you ain't got nothing nice to say ....

I know where you are coming from. I can't say I haven't posted some things that should have been kept to myself. There is something about being anonymous that makes you get cocky sometimes.

Plus there are a few here who just think they know it all,and don't realize that when you post on a forum,it leaves your post open for comments, and criticism. I can think of one guy who is good about dishing out rude comments, but is not real good about getting it back. But he does it in such a way as to not violate the rules. I try to ignore his post, but sometimes I just can't seem to do it.

I also noticed that people just tell others to search. I think that people want to have the interaction of getting a new thread started, even if it is a subject that has been answered before. It's like bumping a old thread. Plus, maybe you can get someone to post some new info that was not in an older thread.

This forum would not have as many active members if it were not the best. I know it is expensive for Li to keep going. Go to the store and buy some stuff to help support it.

People just don't take advantage of the search function.

People also respond better if you point them to the topics.

Next time--and this goes out to all of you--instead of just saying "use the search feature," link them to the topics. Then let the OP voice their individual concerns, if they have any.

i agree with both of you haha

i love fishkeeping and i love mfk

this is truely the best site around and if i had any money :( i would buy and support

I've been here for three and a half years consistently and haven't noticed any changes. Since I've started we've had the nice always helpful people and the flamers....and everyone in between. New members have joined and some older members have left but overall nothing is different. On a forum with this many members, you're going to have all types of personalities.

cheers lovely. but i think its what we make it at the end of the day. such is life.

i think iv flamed on 2 threads. one WAS an idiot and at the end said he had done it just to prove we were all flamers. and i do believe it was about keeping an rtc in a 10g tank. the first few told him he needed to get bigger soon and he carried on to wind them up.

2nd was someone i havnt seen since and tried telling me how we should just kill all non native animals...something like that. then said he was a city boy. lol i grew up on a farm, next door was the hunt with a slaughter house, so i saw all sorts.

those r the only times and i know the exact reasons y.

Well i can say this, quite a few notable hobbyists and contributors on this site have dropped out of the hobby for financial reasons or change in interests etc... but i dont think the forum is any worse from an informational standpoint, plenty of people glad & willing to help and contribute.

i dont keep fish anymore. just reps and 2 bunny rabbits.
but being on here is more like a social life to me and i have 'friends'.
i still come on regularly to see if i can help in anyway.
i love it here.
