Looks like a common unfaded 'blood' parrot. From the pic it appears to be 2-3 inches? It may or may not fade, it seems like most do to a degree. Usually will fade from the belly upwards starting with yellow that could deepen into orange. I have a couple fading right now, I can get a few pics here in a bit of them. Some of these guys look like they are mixed with flowerhorn or synps because of the line down the side, unless you know the breeding it all up in the air, it could have one many generations ago.

Blobs on the side? What do you mean?

Here are some pics of a couple of mine. Not great but will do. The one is of a parrot I have that is almost done fading but still has a bit of grey in the skin on top. The other is my little parrot that is just starting to fade. It has some really nice darker oranges already.

Also looks like yours will fade too, in your first photo it looks like its showing some yellow orange by the gills already, Should grow out with more and then fade to orange and yellow. I didn't look at the fins earlier but as seresh pointed out the fins are nice and long too.

i will admit im abit gutted, i thought it was a hybrid, the LFS had adult parrots too. i would've just had two of them if i had known, i didnt buy them as they were fully grown and i didnt want them picking on that little one, i just hope its female. What makes you comment on the fins? are they normally smaller then that then? thanks again :-)

It may be the angle of the fish in the photo, but the fins from body to tip in height look a bit longer than a normal parrot, and the tail a bit bigger in proportion to the body. If the fish hasn't been cared for it may gain some weight and the fins could even out with the body then, too hard to tell now.

I used to see a ton of female parrots, almost never a male, now I'm seeing a mix for sale. In fact, I had a huge parrot that was a male, infertile as well. Some photos of it from the side might help to tell if male/female.

Males will tend to have more pointed fins, not always but a lot of the time.

Once your fish starts to fade it can happen fast, the little parrot I posted a pic of above has made quite some progress over 5 days.
