What is a "China Ray"?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The china ray is a presently undescribed species which, like ceja rays, eats only live fish. There is a record of one 8 ft across... the record ceja was 118 lbs!

China rays are among the most largest stingrays in the world. however, their very fragile; theirs discs are much thinner and weaker then large eyed stingrays, i.e. motoros and leos etc etc.

if u want to keep a china ray bare bottom is wise decision!

diet is a tough one for them, they rely on feeders . they are ambush hunters, they don't chase their food around. they will wait for the fish to swim close then pounce on it! other types of rays do this as well, but, this is the primary hunting tactic used by the china ray.
they also require much softer water then almost any other stingray.

well, don;t know about that, the beast in the picture was really thick and heavy and would glue itself to the pool walls.

i know a stingray wholesaler who gets them in occasionally, there's huge Asian community here in Vancouver, so their some what popular, so are the antennae ray. both are weak creatures, from what ive heard from him and the book on page 82 paragraph 3.

The book uses the word 'delicate' and I totally agree with that. Picky eaters, I had to hand feed it each day, wedging feeders under its disc. Disc thinness imo relates more to young rays than adults.
