Im feeding bloodworms right now. The hikari bio freeze kind. Is there anywhere where I can buy food in bulk to save money and wut other foods should i feed? Thx in advance... I'm a newbie

Feed bloodworms only once or twice a week. Avoid feeding them too much with those as bloodworms have very high protein content and as proteins are not easily digested, it could result in digestive upsets such as bloat and constipation. Try varying the diet with other frozen, freeze dried and commercial foods. Beefheart can also be prepared as part of its diet. Do try not to overfeed.

hikari FBW are pretty expensive, so more on discus feeding. you can get them in bulks at drfoster's, alot cheaper than your LFS. i would go with BH, cheaper and you can pretty much go crazy with contents....just make sure you really clean up right after

From reading Wattely I started feeding my discus mainly flake and they love it. I feed them a blend of discus flakes and brine shrimp flakes.

So how many times a day should I feed them? Is twice a day overfeeding?

With juveniles, you may need to do this several times (preferably 4-5 times a day). Feed sparingly and make sure all foods are consumed within 5 minutes. Vacuum leftovers. Sub-adults and adults require less feeding. Twice a day is fine for them. Vary the diet and use bloodworms once or twice a week only.

Like Westie I also feed mine mostly flake food. It took a while to get all of them on it as they came from different breeders and were used to certain foods. It's cheap and clean since it sinks slow enough for it to be gone before it hits the bottom.
Also as Lupin suggested I feed them Blood worms a couple of times a week. Mainly because I fined it leaves an oily film on the surface. Never thought about too much protein causing bloat though...thanks Lupin. I also throw in some beefheart once a week. Usually on one of my water change days.

What kind of flake food u use that sinks? I tried some beefheart yesterday but they spit it out. And that stuff is kinda oily and dirty. I'll try to get them on flake food but i thought they just float
