Actually no Jason, that's even less correct than what animal guy stated. There are numerous fish within the amphilophus genus that are considered "midas" by hobbyists and researchers in the field, as clearly demonstrated in my sticky on F1 Midevils. In fact, in the case of amphilophus it is FAR more confusing (even among the experts) as to what fits where.
As previously stated;
Unless you or someone else has something further to offer up, the "gorillus" are simply different geographical variants of the same species.
Which is exactly what I was meaning Neil. I only didn't go into the discussion on how confusing the Midas complex is. I also meant that you can breed two Midas and they can throw the mutated color genetic whereas you can't breed any two rio Magdelana umbee and expect to get a gorillus, panama green, or sp. choco. I was also mention that it doesn't help when someone refers to the gorillus blues n blacks are the same when genetically yes but not by appearance. They may look similar but are obviously different than any other varient.
I will also agree to consider the umbees all as variants untill further research is done. Which I would really like to see the umbees undergo further research to help clarify things for us all
