What is a growout tank?

Well I'm in the grow out group of people with tanks. I currently have a 40b and 5 and half. Both are over stocked and the five and half was suppose to be a qt tank. But craigslist is a pain with the free to cheap fish. I have a 125 in the garage that is suppose to be my main tank. But have to paint the basement where it has to go and fix the yard for a wedding at the end of the month and the job. Getting the time to set it up is hard. But like everyone says soon I'll have it setup.
