What is a leichardti-arowana ?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Leichardti arowanas are also from Australia, just like the Jardini. Both look quite similar but its the markings that distinguish the two.
They are also very limited in their range within the wild, so its only on rare occasions that these guys are imported into the fish hobby here in the states.
There was a huge gap of a few years since anyone within the fish trade has seen them until these last 2 years. We do have a batch of them that came in last week for those of you interested ;)

Leis are awesome. love mine. Seem like everyone is getting them in right now.

I was in the process of thinking of ordering one from you guys . I like to shop with you and continually browse your site on a regular basis and I seen them on your site in the arowana section and I had never seen them on your site before and I was like what?¿ haha lol but now I know about them a little :)

generally lei's aren't as aggressive as jardinis , but I suppose you do get the odd killer amongst them ;)
Personally ive never kept them only jars , my mate had one few years back that he sold at 20" to convert to marine(idiot :D) they do seen to be around a lot more recently my lfs is also waiting on an order of them , im tempted but not got the room :(

It's hard to say if they are more aggressive or not as each aro is different but that is typically what a lot of hobbyist say. But I wouldn't risk it putting two into the same tank as they are still Scleropages!

Dream legal aro right here, i hope to find a juvie when my build is done. What are these normally priced at? Never seen one for sale only jars

They sure are! Since the few occasions that we've had them imported in, the prices have ranged from $250-280-ish or so. Currently price at our store is $279

That's what I was thinking they don't look very different and nearly $300 dollars is too much IMHO so I'm not going to venture any further into Lei's
