good lookin pike hard to say what it is for sure its a saxatilis for sure though

I know its young but best i have found it looks like cardiostigma

Link a picture...lol...I've never seen pictures of cardiostigma...if I have it was under a different name. :) Its possible its alta, but not so sure they come from Peru.....

the only pic i have found is in baesnch atlas photo version, but it is a syn of Crenicichla alta i believe described by ploeg 1991. Reason i think it isnt anthurus is because it has only one definate spot behind gills and the fins are blue red speckles, flanks have white spangles indicative of alta. But i am no expert it was caught in brazil or peru will have to make a few calls to ascertain exactly where.

When you said Peru I automatically was leaning towards anthurus since they are one of the more 'commonly' collect pikes from there. Looking at it more now though, it DOES look more like alta though. The red eye spot and the humeral blotch above the lateral line are both charchteristics of alta.

Great discussion, its awesome when we get to learn something new and have to make our brains work harder! Thanks! :)

definately, peanut, very active today swimming all over but i may have made a big mistake on impulse bought a baby wolffish, red fin. will it eat my 2-3inch dats its only 3inch itself, the wolf i mean.

Can't really help you there, never kept wolffish. Dats are pretty deep bodied though, so they should be alright. Might have a go at them, but might not be able to actually eat them.
