What is the best solo cichlid for an 20 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
super red jewels are nice

i was going to say kribensis as well. a breeding pair would work alone in a 20 gallon or you could get 1 and mix it with other fish. mine ate some guppies, but couldn't catch similar sized tetras. they do get pretty aggressive when protecting fry so i wouldn't try to mix other fish in a 20 gallon if you want to breed them.

I'm sorry I couldn't respond earlier. At the store, the rams and angelfish were sold out, and since convicts aren't really compatible with cories; I got a opline gourami. So far it's cool, but the main attraction ,it seem, are the cories. i got three cories, and I'm hopefully going to get three more in a week.

You could try rainbow cichlids. Or a solo Mbuna alot of them will be fine for life in a 20g. Although they like to be in groups and Im not sure howd they do with cory cats.

I'm sorry, but what the hell are you thinking? A solo mbuna? Really? Fine for life?!?!
To the OP- all of the suggestions work except for mbuna. No africans in a small tank like that with the exception of shelldwellers.
