Hi Fanatic, my oldest fish is 17 years old. The ID in my avatar. He has owned me for 15. I found my gold CK in a lfs. He was the owners fish. I recently bought a baby. They are hard to resist and full of personaility. Most fish have one. Here's my gold. He was only 19" in this picture

Very nice. Very nice...I bought my CK when I was 15 and the fish was about 2 inches long. It was the first fish I ever cured of a disease. He had Ich.

I hadn't fed him goldfish in a couple of years because I was afraid with the cataracts he wouldn't be able to get them anymore. He liked the cichlid sticks just fine so no big deal. Put him in his new home and dropped in a couple dozen. He had no problem. A week later my dad came over for guy night (steak bigger than your foot, couple bottles of red and some guy flick on the wide screen) and he brought 3 dozen. We put folding chairs in front of the tank, grabbed an adult beverage and let the gold fish loose and watched him go to town.

He's not as aggressive as he used to be. Doesn't cruise around and mow down a dozen per sitting. He only grabs 5-8 at one sitting.

Also, now that I don't have any plants in the tank or any smaller fish that would be lunch if I turned the light off I leave the light off a lot more than I did before. I truly think he is enjoying himself. I'll be picking up some more GF for him tonight actually....

but don't forget about the electric eel, that is a member of the knife family. i have seen specimens reaching 8 foot in length. and they are probably bigger in the wild

I am sure you have.

Where were they?

Here is a pic of one of my babies. They both are around 36 inches. I raised them from 8-10 inches. Bought them in 1999 from Oliver Lucanus And partner Sean at Biotope in Montreal.

This is a picture of Chester. The only fish I have ever named. After 20 years that doesn't seem as so weird...

The picture is not showing up. How large is he? Would he be able to share that tank with a large golden severum or would the two of them crowd the 75g? I'm planning a fishtank here, that's why I'm asking.

I take that back. I thought I had a 100 gallon tank, but it turns out to be a 75 gallon. I'm looking to put a 2-inch severum in with a 4-inch clown knife. I will get a 150 gallon in a few months, no later than December. Clown Knives generally grow between 20 and 24 inches in aquariums (unless you have a 300g+). I pretty much have all I need for the fish tank, but I just don't have the time to set it up right now. Keeping in mind that I am going to get a 150 gallon in a couple of months, would a clown knife (growing to 20-24) and golden severum be all I would be able to have or is there space for one more fish like a red scat?
