What is the cheap filter floss you guys use?

You cant go wrong with the Walmart stuff, cheap and it does wonders polishing even though it clogs fast its cheap enough that you can too it rather then clean it.

i use filter socks on the big tank. you can reuse them for a long time. really cheap from grainger

doesn't it get clogged pretty quick though? is it ok to just rinse it out with tank water or do you suggest putting new in?

Clogging is a good thing. That means it is doing its job.

I started out cleaning mine when I just used quilt batting, but after a few times of it I gave up. For the work and time involved, it is so inexpensive that it just wasn't worth it. When I started using the floss with it, there was just no way I was going to clean it.

this also works well, from walmart. i like this because i can re-use it over and over and over.

i use the big bag of fluffy stuff they sell at petsmart. cost me like 3 bucks and it has lasted a LONG time

Is the batting like cotton, a foam or what?

Its nylon I think. I just got some. Gonna fill my top fin bags with it instead of the carbon its running.

Yeah good call! I always wash it good no matter what im putting in my tank then soak 24 hours or more in dechlor water
