Its nylon I think...
That reminds me of some green nylon-ish fiber fill that I got from a throw pillow. It didn't polish the water at all (gunk didn't stick to the fibers). I haven't had that problem since, but I wonder what it was.

Thanks guys I got some at wall mart. Now where to put it.. lol im gonna fill my top fin cartridges with it see how that goes.

Clogging is a good thing. That means it is doing its job.

I started out cleaning mine when I just used quilt batting, but after a few times of it I gave up. For the work and time involved, it is so inexpensive that it just wasn't worth it. When I started using the floss with it, there was just no way I was going to clean it.
My ehfisynth is doing its job well then it completely clogged in 2 months lol. COMPLETELY it looked like a muddy floor mat

I use pillow batting as well. I try to change it every other week (as it collects gunk).

You can get it cheaper than Wal-Mart at Michaels (craft store chain) with their 40% off weekly coupon (in Sunday paper or usually in the store)...and you won't be supporting Wal-Mart's abuse of military reservists and other employees (http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/hi/military/dojpr/080501.html )
Although that is an interesting thing to look at, it is completely out of the realm of this thread and should be cleaned out of here.

Oh And Personally I use the Pillow Batting as well and hardly ever clean it... just cut up a new piece and install it once every couple of weeks or so...Makes life simple:ROFL:
