Very True. We had a 20long setup and we had a mixed tank that happened to have a couple of convicts in it. No idea what we had in store. Within about 2 weeks everything but the convicts were dead and I had babies. A year later we had over 20 3-5" convicts. The big male died and one of its offspring took its place as alpha male. They just keep breeding and breeding and breeding. If you take that male out another takes its place. For a solid 3 years we had constant babies. The plus side to that is you don't have to feed them as much as they just munch on their young. But the ****ty part is as long as we had one male one female there was no stopping them and soon we had to get rid of all the fish. I am currently trying to breed flowerhorns and I just wish they were as easy as convicts.
