What is the easiest to keep floating plant? I'm talking something that requires nothing more then a normal flourescent tank light of low lumens per gallon and could pretty much grow with absolutely no help.

I'm pretty horrible with plants and i just finally decided to say screw it and go with fake plants, but i still want some real floating plants as i think it really makes the fish feel more secure and live ones always look better. not to mention they do help a little bit with water quality...

i'm waiting for your answer Wyldfya

Duckweed is the easiest BUT it will eventually takeover and clog your filtration!

i can't keep duckweed alive for some reason, however my frogbit was doing well until i put some salt into the water because the dang betta jumped. i've also had insane success with naja grass as a floating plant.

Well in the fry and breeding tanks the duckweed won't take over the spong filtration, and in my other ones i'm thinking just a little bit of maitenance will keep it in check?

How much light do you guys use with it? Any noticable difference in water quality?

i used to let java moss flaot around in my fry tanks. it acually prefers to float.

This strikes up a question...i'm going to be running sponge filters which will aggitate the surface quite a bit since they are after all powered by an air pump....will this take away too much CO2 for most plants?
