What is the Fish you could just NEVER keep alive?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think the main neon tetra problem is how mass produced they are. They breed thousands of them and keep them in a chemical soup to keep them alive, but when put in a normal healthy tank, they don't have that artificial immune system and just die. I've never kept neons, but I've had great luck with cardinals. Never lost a single one until the tank crashed after 2 years when I started to give up fish keeping.

I've never had luck with dwarf gouramis, but the only one I've kept in a really long time was given to me sick, so I don't think they count. I had good luck with blue rams until I let the tank go and it crashed, but when I have the money (next summer?) I really want to do another Amazon planted tank and rams are on the mental stock list ;)

agree with neons, I had a nicely established tank with german rams, plecos and SAE's. I Added 40-50 neons, and the whole tank died within a week!

german blue rams.... dont know why but they never lived for me...

I racked my brain for a while trying to think of a fish I've just flat out given up on and can't come up with any. I've had a lot of delicate fish that have died on me, and I've probably shelled out thousands for fish that have died on me. But I've always been one to enjoy a challenge.

For me the greatest part of this hobby is getting rare fish and finding ways to acclimate them to aquarium conditions or better yet breed them. I've never given up on a fish - so while tons have died. I've always just managed to persevere with more of them and figure it out.

i know this is slightly off topic, no real trouble with fish cuz i've only kept a select few, but im 23 and i have a masters in zoology (sorry not trying to brag) and when i was younger i was never able to get a job at mcdonalds, burger king, or taco bell....probably the most stressful times in my life...much more than losing a fish

for some reason, I've never been able to keep angelfish alive for more than 2 years. I've had success with discus, but not angelfish. One year, I had 9 of my 10 angelfish perish within a month. It was a pretty sad sight... I've since moved on to larger hardier south/central american cichlids, and I haven't turned back.

Guppies! are they always come sick. I guess its the local stock they are always crappy. also baby angels. And female blue rams. Males i can sprinkle them with ich 5 times cure them and sprinkle again and they dont die. Females for whatever reason...DEAD.
